The Rusby Family name

There are some interesting people with the name Rusby and my plan is to give you a short bio of those that I feel will be of interest to you.
Not all of the Rusby's mentioned have been found to be directly related but with advances in geneology we might make more connections. There are more Rusbys in England, about 150 in the U.S. and a few in Australia and Canada.
Researchers tell us that the name derived from the term rush which is a plant growing near marshes and ponds. The early tribes were described as those living by the rush or rushbys. Some member broke from the tribe and changed his name to Rusby which was a common practice in early ancient Great Briton.

The best known Rusbys are the folk entertainer Kate Rusby who is a very popular singer-songwriter in England.
Also well known is Sir Cameron Rusby, former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander of NATO and former skipper of the Queens Yacht, the Britannia.
Also well known was the author and explorer Henry Hurd Rusby who became Dean of Pharmacy at Columbia University.
None of these three have been connected through geneology. I do have a connection to Henry who was my great uncle.
